Abstract Guidelines

Abstract Submission Key Dates

  • Abstract Submission opens on 1st February 2022
  • The last date for Abstract Submission is on 31st July 2022
  • Abstract Acceptance Notification is on 30th September 2022

Abstract Submission Process for PENSA 2022

  • Delegates who would like to present their work at the Congress, either as an oral presentation or as a poster, are invited to submit one or more for consideration by the Abstract Grading Committee.
  • Papers already presented at other national or international meetings will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. However, a notation to this fact is needed below the title, for example, “This work has been presented in part/in its entirety at ………….” (Please mention the details of the meeting at which the work was previously presented). Obtaining copyright permission is the responsibility of the author.
  • Abstract submission is only possible via the online abstract submission form.
  • Please follow carefully all the instructions available onthe online abstract submission system before preparing your abstract.
  • The creation of a user account is required for the submission. The account only needs to be created once and can be re-used for additional future abstract submission and registration to the conference
  • Abstracts can be saved in “Draft status” to be re-edited and modified until the submission deadline of 31st July 2022, midnight, Indian Standard Time (IST). Abstracts cannot be edited after the submission deadline.
  • Abstracts fulfilling all criteria can be saved in “Final submission” status. Only abstracts in “Final submission” status will be considered for Congress.
  • Abstracts are accepted on a wide range of topics in clinical nutrition and metabolism. The submitter has to select the right topic for the abstract on the submission form. Please review these descriptions before submitting your abstract to ensure you are submitting your work to the proper category.


  • Nutritional epidemiology, community nutrition
  • Immunity and nutrients
  • Vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals
  • Critical Care/ Enteral Nutrition/Parenteral Nutrition
  • Liver and gastrointestinal tract
  • Nutrition and chronic diseases
  • Malnutrition, obesity, sarcopenia, and the metabolic syndrome
  • Nutrition and cancer
  • Peadiatrics
  • Nutritional techniques and formulations
  • Geriatrics
  • Nursing (nursing issues in artificial nutrition interventions, monitoring, etc)
  • Perioperative nutrition (Enhanced Recovery after Surgery {ERAS}, trauma and postoperative complications)

For standardization, the acceptable length of the abstract is not more than 300 printable words, not including the title, author’s details, and conflict of interest. Please refer to the word count of the system as slight differences may occur when counting with WORD or similar programs.

The abstract needs to be structured as follows:

  • Rationale / Background: This section should contain 1-2 sentences that clearly indicate the scientific question of the study and its clinical (or other) importance.
  • Study Design & Methods: This section should contain sufficient information to be able to understand the experimental design, the analytical techniques, and the statistics used
  • Results: This section should contain objective data to answer the scientific question(s).
  • Conclusions: This section should provide only conclusions of the study directly supported by the results, along with implications for clinical practice, avoiding speculation and over-generalization.Statements such as “the results will be discussed” or “data will be presented and discussed” are not acceptable.


  • DO NOT include an image, table, references, title, or author information in your abstract
  • DO NOT use abbreviations that have not been specified first.
  • DO NOT include statements such as “the results will be discussed” or “data will be presented and discussed” within your conclusion, as these are NOT acceptable.
  • A paper cannot be accepted if the conflict of interest disclosure is not signed.
  • On the online abstract form, provide the requested details for all authors.

Late-breaking abstracts

  • Late-breaking abstracts may be accepted from the 28th May up to 17thJune 2022, Midnight, IST.
  • Late-breaking abstracts will only be presented as posters.

Presentation of abstracts

  • Abstracts can be accepted either as an e-Poster/POSTER or ORALPresentation.
  • The Abstract Scientific Committee will select submitted abstracts and determine whether they are accepted for Oral or Poster presentation.
  • E-Posters should be a single page ppt slide in portrait (16:9) Format – more details on how to submit your e-Poster will be provided.

General Remarks

  • The first author of the abstract selected for presentation must be registered for the Congress. However, registration for Congress is not a pre-requisite for submitting Abstracts for consideration.
  • Abstracts must contain data and meet international ethical standards
  • Abbreviations should be defined
  • Trade names cannot be mentioned in the title. However, trade names will be mentioned in the body of the text.
  • Please ensure your abstract does not contain spelling, grammar, or scientific mistakes, as it will be reproduced exactly as submitted. Linguistic accuracy is your responsibility. No proofreading will be done.
  • No changes can be made to the abstract after the submission deadline of 31st July 2022, midnight of IST.
  • The reviewers will judge the abstracts according to its relevance to PENSA, the standard of presentation, the objectivity of statements, description of what was done, suitability of methods relevant to the objectives and aims, conclusions confirmed by objective results, ethics, scientific value, potential clinical value, originality of work and overall impression
  • Submitting authors will be notified by End-June 2022 whether their abstract has been accepted, and they will be in due course of time be informed about the date, time, and form of their presentation. All notifications will be sent out to the e-mail address given on the submission form.

If you want to withdraw your abstract, a written statement reflecting the reasons for this decision must be sent to the PENSA Secretary (pensacenter@gmail.com) no later than 1 June 2022.
